Beginners
An introductory level for learners with little or no prior knowledge of Gìkūyū. Learners develop foundational vocabulary, expressions, comprehension and basic conversational skills.

Learning Gìkūyū
Language is one of the most important carriers of culture.
Our Gìkūyū Language Initiative provides an opportunity for adults to learn, understand and use Gìkūyū while reconnecting with the cultural knowledge, expressions and worldview carried within the language.
Gìkūyū Language Classes
We offer virtual Gìkūyū language classes for adults aged 20 years and above, providing a structured pathway from beginner to advanced proficiency.
The Programme Has 3 Levels
Gìkūyū Language Levels
Our Programme has three progressive levels, beginning with Beginners / Level 1 and progressing to advanced learning.
Level 2
Intermediate
Builds on the foundation established at Level 1, developing learners' confidence in understanding, speaking and using Gìkūyū in a wider range of everyday conversations and contexts.
Level 3
Advanced
Supports learners in developing more advanced comprehension, conversation and use of Gìkūyū, with greater confidence and fluency.
Three Intakes Every Year

Classes are offered across three semesters each year.
Semester 01
January – April
Semester 02
May – August
Semester 03
September – December
Learners can join the Programme according to the level appropriate to their existing knowledge of Gìkūyū.
Learn from Wherever You Are
Classes are offered virtually, making the Programme accessible to learners regardless of where they live.
The classes combine language learning with cultural context, helping learners not only to acquire vocabulary and expressions but also to appreciate the cultural meanings carried through the Gìkūyū language.
